Focused Leadership for Our Schools

Our public schools are facing real challenges driven by state legislation—insufficient funding, unfunded mandates, and the rollout of a voucher program. While these issues create uncertainty, I believe we must stay focused on what matters most: our students and their learning.

Not the Place for Politics

As a lifelong learner with a deep passion for education, I am committed to ensuring that classroom learning is not overshadowed by political battles in Austin or at the national level. I believe that strong public schools are the foundation of any good community, and we can't let political battles distract us from what is best for our students.

Budget

LTISD continues to face a budget deficit, and I believe our community must work together to address the deficit responsibly. That means identifying additional funding opportunities, managing our current budget wisely, and advocating for fair and appropriate funding for public schools—while communicating clearly and transparently with families and taxpayers along the way.

Teachers and Staff

Our educators are the foundation of our school district, and we must treat them that way. They work long hours, invest deeply in our children, and consistently go beyond what’s required. As a board member, I will prioritize protecting their time, respecting their professional expertise, and ensuring they can focus on what they do best — teaching.

Reduce Bullying

I’ve seen too many families cite bullying as a reason for leaving LTISD. That should concern all of us. Every student deserves to feel safe and supported. We must strengthen accountability, clarify expectations, and better integrate resources currently available. We must work on developing a culture where students and staff feel empowered to speak up without fear of retaliation.

Bond Projects

I'm committed to seeing critical bond projects through to completion, including the second high school, so all students have the space, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive. We're at the beginning of a lot of planning to make this transition a success, and we need thoughtful leadership to manage the challenges that change brings.

Continuous Improvement

One of my personal mottos is to “continue to find a better way.” I believe strongly in continuous improvement, and I will bring that mindset to my role as a school board trustee. I know we already have a strong district - but we still have room to improve.

Throughout my career, I have stepped into challenging situations, asked tough questions, and taken on new responsibilities to support organizations through transition. I value open communication, careful research, and meaningful input from stakeholders. I am not afraid to closely examine budgets or make thoughtful, sometimes difficult decisions—always with the best interests of our students, staff, and community at heart.
